COURSE DESCRIPTION

The TSS Classified Leader Certificate Program has been created as a comprehensive program designed to introduce new or strengthen current leadership skills of aspiring or current directors in roles such as payroll, accounting, audit roles, risk management, technology, food and nutrition, purchasing, warehouse, maintenance and operations, facilities, worker’s compensation, benefits, and human resources roles.

This introductory lesson is the first of thirteen self-paced modules. Students are free to attend this class at their leisure. This workshop’s resources include video lectures and reading materials that may be downloaded. The training also includes questions to think about and reflect on. After completing all the video lectures and assessments of the course, students will be familiar with Indiana’s main aspects of school business and finance, and they will be able to qualify for an Indiana School Business and Finance Certificate from Total School Solutions based on Indiana administrator competencies covered and (3) CTE points for each course (Continuing Education Credits) for administrative and teacher license renewal pending IDOE approval.

The workshop starts with an overview of the topics discussed in the video lectures. Students will be introduced to terminology, significant aspects of business and finance, current financial issues, and local education politics.

The purpose of this module is to provide an overview of online self-paced modules that may be taken to earn an Indiana School and Business Certificate, as well as to give a synopsis for students who are interested in receiving the working knowledge of school business and finance for career management in a variety of school district positions.

Know the Rules of the Purchasing Road

School districts are among the biggest buyers of a wide range of products and services in almost every community. Districts are also very tightly regulated, and this includes purchasing. Districts that fail to comprehend or abide by these rules do so at their own risk. The objectives and criteria for these purchases, as well as a review of the many processes and methods the district employs to make purchases, will all be covered in this session. Administrators, department heads, business office workers, and anybody else involved in the purchase process who wants a deeper grasp of school district purchasing must take this course.

Requests for proposals, purchase orders vs contracts, staff responsibilities, district buying policies, piggyback bids, CUPCCA standards and processes, facility building and repair purchases, service contracts, and DIR regulations are some of the topics covered in this course.

Time: TBC

Workshop Fee: $225

Early Bird Fee: $195

Intended Audience:

Superintendents, chief business officers, curriculum directors, principals, and other school leaders who want to glimpse high-quality, cost-effective special education programs for students would all benefit greatly from this workshop as well as the staff who are responsible for managing special education programs and their budgets.

About the Workshop:

A local education agency’s (LEA) special education program serves the most underprivileged student population and is generally the largest restricted program in the general fund. As special education enrollment continues to increase, funding remains insufficient to adequately serve these students, and contributions from the general fund have risen significantly in recent years. Although a lot of parents think the state and federal governments cover special education costs, professionals know that local education agencies are ultimately in charge of these programs and provide a considerable amount of funding to make sure these children are taken care of. But what resources are offered for special education, and how should they be used? What is the SELPA’s function in aiding LEAs and how does it allocate funds? One of the keys to providing the greatest care for these pupils while keeping the LEA budget intact is comprehending and managing these resources. The most recent information on special education financing will be given to participants in this workshop, along with tips on how to run an efficient special education program.

The post Special Education Fiscal Management first appeared on TSS.
